ZIMRA registration is a legal requirement for every business operating in Zimbabwe. Here is what you need to know.
What is ZIMRA Registration?
ZIMRA registration assigns your business a Business Partner (BP) Number, which is your unique tax identification. You use it for all tax filings — income tax, PAYE, and VAT.
When Must You Register?
You must register with ZIMRA as soon as your business starts trading. There is no minimum turnover threshold for income tax registration. VAT registration becomes mandatory once your annual turnover exceeds the prescribed threshold.
What You Need
To register, you need your Certificate of Incorporation (or trading name registration), your business physical address, and the national IDs of your directors.
Staying Compliant
After registration, you must file periodic tax returns and pay any tax due. Failure to file on time results in penalties. A Tax Clearance Certificate, which proves your compliance, must be renewed annually.
